Greetings from the Pacific Northwest. As a new Member I am in awe of this group, and the vast information at my fingertips. I haven't had a bike since 1994 when my beloved 81' CB750F was stolen. Wouldn't you know it would get lifted after I plunked down $500 for a battery, rear tire, jet kit/carb rebuild. Needless to say the bike was thrashed when it was recovered and I didn't have the $350 to pay the tow/storage fees. That was a bitter experience, and the wrong way to stop riding. My girlfriend (now my darling wife) at the time did not want me to have a bike- her father was an insurance adjuster (maybe the theft was an inside job!). After years of talking about it and finally getting her to agree that I should have a bike, I am seriously looking.
Right now I am smitten with the 98-01 VFR. I think it has everything I want in a bike-range, comfort, reliability, and sporty good looks.
Whenever I point one out to my wife she says "it's a crotch rocket!" and I have to show her the difference in ergos between it and a CBR1000 or the like.
If there are any members out there who are larger fellows I would like to hear what modifications you have made to customize your ride to fit yourselves better. I'm a large fellow myself-6'3", 300 lbs.
Will it be possible to ride two-up if I am that big?
The bike will eventually be my sole transport as our new condo has one parking space and the wife's car and a bike will just fit.
Any comments, or advice would be greatly appreciated..
    Cheers!

Hmmm - 'cos I'm not lacking in height (6'2") and a few kg (sorry- gone metric) more than I should (and thats the other thing - Honda has a trait of giving most of their bikes a softish spring rate - front and rear) - I'm looking to up the rate of both the front and rear suspension on my bike (with a revalving of the dampening).

If your potential pride and joy is coming from a bike shop I would be asking what they could do - better yet chase down someone who has a good rep for these sorts of mods.

    Welcome to the fold!
