I tore down my 1986 vfr700 to give it a "Craigslist Restore" as they say on Vise Grip Garage. I took a bunch of pictures as I usually do to help with reassembly. However, the pictures of how all the wiring comes together under the front cowl are hard to decipher. Is there a certain order of which wires you should connect first? Is there a diagram anywhere to show how the wires are layered under there? Thanks In Advance! Illinois Bill
The Factory Service Manual has hand drawn wire routing illustrations with multiple view angles. It still can be some trial and error. Start with the main harness and start introducing the gauge and handlebar switch leads. After you get started you can start to notice where there wires were bent over the years and where another wire bundle has made impressions in the outer casing giving some clues. Just get started and undo and repeat as necessary.
That's sound advice. I have the Clymers but I do not have the factory service manual. Is that something I can download or do I need to purchase it. Thanks for your help! Illinois Bill
