Started tearing the bike down in December but I'm just getting around to getting parts. Got these in the mail this weekend:

Planning to repair or replace all the plastic, send out the forks for customized rebuild, replace the rear shock with a revalved CBR 929 shock, new clutch pack, & springs, strip & clearcoat front & rear wheels, clean all wiring contacts, change oil/filter, check stator, & a general cleaning of collected gunk.

She's stripped down pretty good right now...

Question: I was able to remove the entire clutch pack without removing the large nut at the center; what's under there & do I need to remove it just to replace the clutch pack?

ALSO, these 2 spacers were under the last clutch plate; is it normal to have 2, and why does one have a concave profile? Normal?

Winter projects are always fun. I lover tearing my bikes down during the winter. Your updates will really refresh things for you. Since you're replacing the clutch, I'm curious to know how many miles you have on the bike. Keep the photos coming.

And sometimes when you do one project it leads to another, and another, and if you're like me, sometimes you get to do the same project twice when you forget to attach a vacuum hose under the airbox and have to do it all over again. LOL.

Note to self. If you removea part that will not be re-installed for some time, it's good to take pictures as you disassemble so you remember how things go back together.

49,000 on the bike; unknown history when I bought it 2 years ago so...

I lube the crap out of it with 90W gear oil--it has over 20,000 miles with hardly any wear!

My landlord's floor....kinda have to keep it clean~

Yeah, had that trouble before~lotsa pics!

I routinely do this. Especially for wiring routes and connectors. I cannot tell you how many times this has saved me. Definitely great advice.

Noticed nobody responded to this. I have only torn apart gen 2 clutches and it has been years, but those two spacers are normal and one is concave. They need to go back in the way they came out so hopefully you took a pic of that too or at least wrote it down. Good luck with the project.

Great to see a bike being loved so much. I was going to ask how to keep the swing arm clean. Because, wow. That was oily! But I guess I know why. I need to do this on my CBR (oil the chain that is with 90W). Keep up the good work!

Spent today doing the first polish on my rims. Use an air drill & brass wirw wheel to stri0 the old paint off....now to refine the fishe some. I have 600, 1200 & 2000 grit sandpaper to buff it down to a fine brushed finish.

I pulled the air box & throttle bodies the other day to replace the thermostat, then realized I had lost the o-ring for the thermostat~

A quick partzilla website visit & I have the o-ring as well as some intsrument surround plastic & various bits on the way--scheduled to arrive next Wednesday.

Next hurdle; clean this NASTY swingarm!

Hi. This is your landlord. Please refer to your lease. On page 7, paragraph 2, item B 3. (a): "No motorcycle repairs of any kind may be performed. Doing so terminates this lease effective immediately. Pack your shit, and get the fuck out".

Looking good there, G. I really like the way the wheels came out; always wanted to do that with mine. You need to get those parts in and start working on reassembly now that we're getting some nicer weather! You all healed up from last year's incident?

I do all my landlord's repairs & car maintenance & repairs & trade it off for rent. He's not about to let me go!

I'm glad to report I am completely healed from December's incident with no ill effects whatsoever~

I want to paint the center of the rim the spokes the same color as the bike. Anybody got a line on what color exactly matches Honda red?
