Up here in the north, where the snow is currently up to my rump, I pass the offseason time with all things motorcycle. Books, DVD's, magazines. I even have a motorcycle slot car track set up in my living room. It looks like a damned frat house around here. My current favorite book is "The Perfect Vehicle" by Melissa Holbrook Pierson. Tons of moto history, culture and great explanations for our addiction, although from a female riders perspective. (she rides a Moto Guzzi) Also like Rush's drummer Neil Peart's book "The Ghost Rider" about his personal loss and the motorcycle riding he used to get beyond it. ( which I've discovered myself). Maybe this is old news, but help me out. I need to survive at least another month without riding. Please give me your favorite winter survival motorcycle recomendations. I'm running out of stuff. This is serious. I'm about to polish the paint off my bikes.

Full blizzard up here tonight Ben. And ya, I'm familiar with the Ted Bishop book. But the Harold Cosgrove connection.. Thanks. Sounds great. As you can tell I'm just watching it snow and thinking how far off riding may become. What the hell can we snow riders do. I was out in Jan. The roads were dry and the temp. was right. All I had to do was get down my driveway of pure ice and cool. Unfortunately when I headed out a car suddenly appeared on my street, and being the sport bike rider, I touched the front brake ( I don't think I could even find the back brakes!) and down it went. A two foot piece of Ducati plastic was $500. I went out anyway with the lower plastic flapping. I just needed to ride. Thanks again. Bob

    a little more info

Should you visit the Halmar web site you will find a phone number,
give them a call, its juat as likely you will catch them in the kitchen fixing lunch! They still go over to the Isle of Man for the TT every year and can tell you personal stories of past and present... Harold and Mary are from Manchester England and retired to Canada so I guess that makes them ex-patriots or something.

Good folks! I get my TT year in review from them every year for the past 12.

    Tranesong2-Hi from waaay up north!:smow:
Up here,we do a lot of snowmobiling.I dont know if sledding is popular down there, but it's a great way to keep the ol' reflexes sharp during the winter.
Although it doesnt quite scratch that "sport bike"itch, riding at 100+ mph through the bush does get the adrenalin flowing.
Anyway, thats how we cope up here in :canada:....and hangin' out at VFR World,of course!

Reading the ingredients of bombay Saphire, garlic-stuffed onions, and Vermouth works for me. (chill the books)
