Just noticed that one of the windshield to fairing bolts on my 85 Ceptor has broken off and now missing. It's at the corner of my headlight. From the other bolts, it seems to be that OEM POS plastic bolt/metal metal washer thingy. Anyone replace these with something more substantial - and where did you get them?

It would seem the "OEM POS plastic bolt/metal metal washer thingy" only lasted 22 years. If you use that again, is the 22 years not long enough for you? Get the OEM stuff again, it will outlast the bike this time.

Same thing happened to my '83. I just purchased some small machine bolts from the local hardware shop, painted the heads black and installed the nuts with some Locktite. Works like a dream (cheap too) and is removable, might I add are a lot more durable than the Honda push nuts.

The only reaseon I called the OEM "POS" was it makes the windshield virtually un-removeable without breaking one of the plastic bolt/metal metal washer thingys.

Thanks for the tip about the machine bolts. I'll have to go looking for them.

Hey guys new to the forum. Just purchased an 86 VFR700F2 and I need to replace the bolts around the windshield.

What size can I get? Dont care if OEM or whatever. Would rather stop at the depot on the way home.. What do I need? Just a nut and bolt?

    I believe they're 4mm screws with a .7 thread pitch.
