We had a very severe earthquake here in Napa back in August. Our place help up well to the whole event, but my poor little VFR fell over. Casualties from the tipover were the ebay mirror I had purchased and the windscreen. The mirrors were really nice, but very small and I had been thinking I might need to buy something else. I had also been thinking that my windscreen was not giving enough protection and had started looking around for a replacement option.

I ended up finding a mirror option that looked really good. They were $30 on ebay.

After lots of searching, found an inexpensive stock looking windscreen for $40. I bought it, thinking it would do for now and I would buy something "better" down the road. The cheap screen showed up broken and I had to pay return shipping for a piece of shit screen that was basically shipped in a paper wrapping. Pissed off as hell about the waste of MY money because some dipshit can't pack a box, I decided I am not pissing around with some other lame ass seller and crappy screen. All my windscreen research said that the MRA Variotour screen is THE choice option, so I splurged and ordered one through Accessories International. Shipping took over a month because it had to be ordered directly from Germany.

Here is what the screen and mirrors look like once installed.

I am still adjusting to the smaller image in the new mirrors, but the longer stalks work well with the existing delrin spacers to put the mirrors out beyond my elbows.

The windscreen is absolutely awesome. As you can see, the profile is basically the same as OEM. I can angle the airfoil so there is no turbulence below my chin at all and the wind breaks right at the windscreen/forehead of my helmet. So I can either lower it to give me some wind resistance on my chest, or raise it so that I have a very calm rider zone and still get good wind flow to my helmet vents.

I have some great mirrors you should pick up.

They came off a BMW1150R. Very aero, but taller. And they would look great on a VFR, which is why I bought them.

    Contact me for details.

Well, there is always a trade off. Yes we shake in these parts :topsy_turvy:, but it IS the Napa Valley.

I have to admit I had been looking for an excuse to swap my Targa for something with more wind protection. It just would have been nice to sell that Targa to someone who could have used it.

All that being said, I have had the chance to go out for a couple more rides since installation and the screen really is awesome. I think it's pretty much the best thing on the market because it maintains a very nice profile (some screens end up really tall and flat to the front) that is still very aerodynamic looking, yet gives you all the protection you could want. I absolutely would recommend the MRA screen to anyone. Price was $180 delivered, but took over a month to get.

The mirrors are also growing on me. I looked at the BMW you mentioned Larry, but those look like stalk mounts. I don't see how they could work with our fairing style mounts.

Those do look like a good option. If I can't get used to the ones I bought, I might need a set. Is there a version of those with led signals?

I wish there was. I toyed with the concept of adding my own LEDs to it. Just don't need another project right now.
