I would like to think there is an explanation for such ignorance. But I doubt it.

Have I completely missed something here...has Buell production come to a halt? As in finished, unless an investor other than Harley comes to the table.

Another sad chapter for Erik Buell.......whether you think he's a visionary or a nut the guy managed to make American sportbikes, for lack of a better term. Maybe he'll reincarnate himself in some other fashion.

We are are funny bunch here in the USA, we like the rags to riches story, until someone actually achieves something, then all we want to do is hate on them.

Regardless, photos like that one wont do anything but feed Hog hatred now haaahaahaaa

This was too good, talk about "telling it like it is":

quoted from the related article at the link posted above "Harley didn't calculate costs...."

Those bikes look used and half way assembled. I doubt they are new off the showroom bikes. It's a great picture though and will get HD a lot of flak over the image. That prototype on the article looked pretty serious...

You know I really respected HD to try and go the route they did with Buell but seeing pics like that really piss me off. It seems to me that their way over priced bikes are the only route they want to take. What respect I had for HD is gone. I can only hope that the Honda Fury/ VTX or even the Yamaha Stratoliners can stomp the crap out of them. (Its definately an underdog thing that I have to root for)

I don't think so cause every one of those bikes has that goofy ass rear fender thing that most people would ditch ASAP. Also, the tires look like they were just rolled across a factory floor and got a little dirt on them.

doesn't look like photoshop too much to me. The lighting seems about the same on all of them...

I'm gonna go with the photo being legit and Harley doing something this stupid... I mean you can only dominate the market for so long before things come crashing down. I look at this as a market correction like the housing market in California. I don't think Harley will disappear, but maybe they have their wakeup call and they'll quit overreaching. They still must have a huge market share plus huge parts and clothing and other miscellaneous junk sales.

Its sad really. Like the article says, they could have donated the bikes. Its just typical. Perpetuating the culture "that it rather be wasted than shared".

My mom worked at the Capital Dr. Plant here in Milwaukee. She worked with some of the ppl in the Product Development Building. All the prototypes when finished were either shipped to the archives downtown or cut into pieces and what... thrown in to the dumpster.. Could Buell build a more fugly motorcycle. A sportbike with a belt drive, doesn't seem that sporty to me. I'm not sad or shocked in the least bit.

Lets hope that that bikes are going somewhere useful and Harley needs a lesson in packaging/shipping.

The guy's at badweb say's "the dumpster pic" is real. Harley owns everything that is Buell unfortunately, probably even the name.

The drive belt is a neat feature to me, it gives a great feel to the rear wheel.
I've been on the BadWeb site a while and the belts are holding up fairly well.

The bike is a real thrill to ride, has a powerband similar to the VFR I own, but
the accell is much more. I think its unique to have a large v-twin with a powerband like that,, its never boring, thats for sure.

Buell being X'ed out was a blow to me, mostly cause I paid $12,000 for a bike that has just been sold out for around $8,000 new at many dealers.

Bitter? , nah, I never much liked Harley anyway. Have tons of friends that I grew up with around here that ride them. I find it impossible to ride with them,, I get tired of waiting all the time.
