Was down In So Cal for a Track day & to ride my old stomping grounds.
ran across a VFR @ the top of Palomar Mtn. with a camera mount, but didn't get a chance to talk.
Was that any of you ????
I was on my civillianized silver Race RC51 (retired my race RC51 & mad it street legal-well sort of  )

    p.s.
man that area got F/U from the fires, but at least when I was up there the roads were perfectly cleaned up with no debri, & I had fun riding (legally of course  hee hee hee).

Would not have been me, as you usually could not get me up the tightside (south grade) of Palomar because of the "clown factor" (this includes squids, but more so "Ricky Racers" aka...experienced hot heads, tearing the place up, and terrorizing the locals) racing up and down the mtn and crashing. Seen too many accidents, and seen a bike slide across my path almost taking me and my buddy out on the way up. I occasionally go up the fastside (east grade) though because hardly anybody else does...they are all busy on the tightside. Too many other roads around to mess with. Sometimes it can be pretty empty on the mtn though, if you hit it at the right time/day.

So yadda, yadda, yadda....no, not me.... Sounds like you had fun though....good deal!

I used to ride my 96 VFR up there quite frequently, haven't been up for a few months though. No camera mount on mine. I love the tight side, even with the squids and racer wanna be's just take care and leave room for err, and you'll be fine.

For local rides, maps, meetups, track days and much more in the SoCal area..

Well who ever it was, was having fun & riding with 5 or 6 non-VFR's.
Have to go on the SM forum since over half the bikes riding up there was SM's (Wish I had mine instead of the RC).

The traffic was very lite, even with bikes do to certain sections with road-side repairs(from the fire), but mostly open on the tight side.
I was with a friend that I was teaching body positioning to, so I wasn't cranking it, actually I was remarkably mellow:eek: .

My RC51 didn't like being stuck in 1st & 2nd for the ride up, but after we ate up top, we went down the back side, & I cranked it up a bit  (staying on my side of the lines though).
OK maybe a little more than a bit  , OK so I was dragging knee & backing it in a few corners, the road was in great shape & I wanted to play.

I did tell my friend to work on what I told him & I'll meet him @ the bottom.

Then we headed to Julian, then after that headed up to 79 & S2 & played there for a bit.
It was perfect weather, low traffic, & fun.
Mullholland & ACH was some good fun as well.

The only bummer was I left my camera @ my friends house :pout:

That is a GREAT road! Did you trailer queen the ole '51 all the way from Mormon country, or did you ride her? You have so many bikes....must be nice to have that problem....

Ha ha, yes I trailered it down with my KTM & a friends SV650 that he sold in Cali I brought down for him (& to pay for my gas -Hemi goes slurp-slurp).
Plus I had my 2 yr old son (can't legally ride him on the back of a bike anyway's).

I'll be riding down in early January on the Sprint though, & will be in San Diego for a wedding & of course to ride around:biggrin:

Drop me a PM if you are in need of a riding partner in January when you come back....not sure if I will be around, but I "might" just be.
