Just wondering if I'm the only one who likes to cut the end of my stock levers off 3/4" shorter thus cutting the round balls off the ends.
I think it looks better and also like on my dirt bikes if you should hit the bars on anything better chance of not breaking a lever off. It's hard to ride away with no clutch lever.
I know you can buy shorty aftermarket but the stock are fine for me.
Anyway raise your hand if you neuter your levers.

the VFR levers are left stock. By I'm just about to cut the ends off the levers on the DR. I have bark busters so there's little risk of them getting busted off like you say - but I like to brake with two fingers. I end up having a problem if I'm two finger braking and then squeeze hard, I the lever runs into my other two fingers that are still on the grip.

i bought my 95 VFR with the clutch lever broken into a shorty and very quickly made my front brake lever match. i think it looks better and is more functional, where as i only use 2 fingers anyways (picked up from being on a dirtbike since age 5)

Rather than cutting, I will usually shave them off.

    TO hang backpacks on right?
Add extra weight to keep the front wheel planted?
I obviously don't know I'm sure its a good reason or they wouldn't waste the metal probably a Federal safety law or something.
    So tell us why.

I'm guessing so that your hands don't slide off as easy -more so in the rain? - but I'm interested in finding out the right answer.

Never thought of the no slide off thing, but that makes sense too, but I was always told that it was to make it less likely to stab you in the gut in an accident. Less like a pointy knife and more like a blunt object. Don't know if that is the "real" real reason, but have heard it from multiple places.
