I recently bought a 91 VFR 750 as a commuter to ride back and forth to work. This is my first road bike in 20 yrs. It's been so much fun that I am thinking about buying a newer VFR next year and wonder what you guys have to say about which generation you like best and why.

5th Gen (1998-2001), because the bike had reached the finest level of refinement without the needlessly complicated Vtec engine. Even the moto-rags call the 5th Gen the best version of the best all around road bike ever built.

I agree with Deathwysh, the 5th is the best in my opinion. A bulletproof engine and a great ride.

5th or 6th. Either one will do the trick.

Were going to need a little a little more info from you, do you want this bike for commuting and the occasional weekend get away or do you want it for commuting and tearing up the local twistys...

5th gen... Red. you'll get a better price, better FI stock. Slightly sportier. BUT, 6g has factory hardbags, undertail exhaust...Prob better tourer... The only 6g I'd consider over my 5g is the RWB one. That is a pretty bike. :first:

I would say all of the above. I've thought I would just put the 91 back to stock as the guy I bought it from put Airtech body work on it and I like the stock look better. But then again I'm a sucker for new technology and a 800FI in a little lighter package would be pretty cool. Riding this bike has been way more addicting than I thought it would be.
