So, I have gone to the effort of upgrading the R/R and adding the VFRness from wiremybike, but I also want to add a voltmeter to keep an eye on the charging system. I have purchased a Datel voltmeter and I was wondering if anyone else has used one of these voltmeters on a 5th gen, and if you have any pictures of where it was installed. My thoughts were to put it on the black bezel that surrounds the instrument cluster on the vertical piece on the left side. Any thoughts and pictures of the mounting position would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks FJ

Do you find the gauge easy enough to see in that position when you are riding?? Did you give any thought to putting the meter just above on that vertical piece?? Just wondering as I have yet to remove the frint fairing and see if there is enough room to mount the meter on the vertical section versus the horizontal section.

    Thanks for the input
    Bill

Oh yeah, I can see it fine. It's hard to see in direct sunlight, but the LCD one I tried wasn't waterproof.

The part just above that is actually past vertical and might be harder to see. JMO of course. It would be really tight getting a Datel in the upper part because the fairing curves around. Might be possible, but I don't think it would be easy.
