If i listen to music, gps, browse the web and txt for hours it runs my pda battery down pretty quick. so i need to find a way to mount my ac/dc inverter. where should i put it.

    conditions apply...

obviously I need to be able to plug stuff in, tho i can use an extension cord to a more convenient place.

I also need to be able to get to the on off button to the inverter. it geeks out if its on when you start the vehicle.

what worries me the most is weather. if it is sprinkling and or raining moisture could get pulled into the inverter by its fan. as well as raining when i forget to cover the bike. I suppose i could build some sorta filter that would "dry" the air.

what is the most practical way to do this?

This is just for your PDA? Can you use a simple 12v cigarette lighter power cord?

DC powerpoint cord would certainly be the best option.

AC Inverter is using your bikes 12VDC power and converting it to 120VAC (no free lunch, this takes energy to do) and then the PDAs plug is converting the 120VAC power back down to some DC voltage (probably in the neighborhood of around 9v).

So basically what I'm saying it, it will be a lot less stress on your battery and the bikes charging system if you can use a 12v DC powerpoint.

I think about the 12v car jack mod often. I have seen several mods from loose under the seat to near the dash. I like the clean look mounted on one of the flat surfaces of the side panel. The 5th gen has the upright rear facing surface on the upper part of the fairing just under the handle bars. I think it would look good there.

I do not use electronics during flight very often so I have not done it.

    Have you checked out Powerlet?

    Da CLIK!

If your PDA has a mini USB port for power, here's just what I believe you need
