Just joined - what a great board!

On an '83 V45, there is a plastic cover between the handlebars that sits on top of the triple clamp covering the fuses - Honda has discontinued the part. Does anyone know where to get one? Mine is not cracked, it's just discolored after 25yrs. Thanks!

    Is it a black cover?
There is an old stunt of covering it in petroleum jelly and leaving it in a baggie overnight that brings 'em back to life. Do a search for full details.

Worse comes to worse just buy some Krylon fusion paint in black (or whatever color you like) and repaint it.

Wal-mart sells a product called "PigSpit". It's back in automotive. It'll make it look a lot better. I use it on the engine and everything. It brings out the black without making it look greasy.
You might find one on E-Bay, but it'll look just like the one you have. 25 years and plastic just don't go together.

    Mothers Back-to-Black
The directions say put it on, wipe it off and buff it.
Mine was grey, I put it on heavy, left it on for a couple of days and it soaked in or something. The thing is a nice black.
So I used it on the plastic by the clutch and the brake. Now their nice and black.
    Cool stuff
The auto parts store where I bought it said to use SPF 50 suntan lotion after the black is back because it protects things from UV

I have used S100 on the engine of my bike and i must say it works great...collects a bit of dust here and there but wipe the dust away and the engine is nice and shiny black.

S100 works great on black plastic control pods - same as PigSpit. Usually apply once a season.

I saw the "Back to Black" at Wal-Mart. I'm looking forward to seeing your picts on how well it worked. If you have good luck, I'll have to give it a try on mine.

Oh, man...I totally forgot to take a picture of it before I put the Back To Black on! But even after one coat, I can tell you the fuse cover looks like new! Pics after another coat...at least *that* pic will make it.

Speaking of pictures, here are two shots of my old V45 Magna after S100

The engine - that's the stock Honda paint from '83:

(notice the plastic water pump cover to the right of the stator cover)

    The control pods:

That makes the engine look great.
    What is S100?
    How do you apply it?
Do you have to wipe it off after you apply it?

Here's the before and after on mine. The after was taken with a cell phone so it's not as clear as the before.

Hopefully my parts will come in soon and I can get this thing back together!!!

S100 comes in a spray can and you just spray it onto the affected parts.
