Good question. I hope you find an answer cos I have a set of carbs with 4 corroded in tight pilot screws which I will have drill out too. I bought a set of left handed drill bits just for this job.

ddavison.........I might have a screw in my potpourri of carb parts, I'll look today and get back to you. jeremyr62,,,,Here's something you can try, it has worked for me. Apply a penetrant, Kroil is a good one, with the screw facing up so that the penetrant sits in the screw recess, let it sit for a day or two, reapply in necessary. Use a can of CRC Freeze Off with the straw in the spray nozzle and spray against the screw head for 30 seconds or so. Use a good fitting screwdriver to rock the screw back and forth not using too much force. If the screw moves, apply more penetrant, be patient and if the gods are smiling, the screw will come out.

Thanks for the advice. My carb bank is off a scrapper that sat out in the Irish weather for years. The screws were already mangelised so they aint coming out intact I'm afraid.I'm hoping my left hand drills will cut into the brass/steel but then unscrew them so they may yet be salvageable.

creaky... good advise, I like your idear better than mine you can rurin the whole carb drilling if you are not super careful.....

I should have tried liquid wrench and let it sit overnight...

It took three different drill bits and easyouts...it came out without damaging the hole.. but the fuel/air screw is screwed...lol..

I need help. I can not get it to start.. engine turns over fine.. just finished up restoring a 85 vf-500 interceptor and knew nothing about the bike when i purchased it except it was junk... i should have never bought this thing but I'm 3k into restoring and it looks almost as good as factory.
so the fuel pump is working,
vacum line to carb is bypassed temporary
and so is the fuel cut off which i just got a new one from honda thinking this was my problem.

tested front #4 front cylinder and #1 rear cylinder for spark... got spark... what else could be keeping it from starting...

    rectifier/regulator??? how to test...
    Ignition boxes??? way to test...

    help...suggestions please...

3 things needed for combustion, air, fuel and spark at the right time. Is it possible that you have the spark plug leads mixed up? If not, and all 4 cylinders are getting spark, just about has to be a fuel problem. Are the carb bowls filling up? Have you tried spraying a little gas into the carbs or tried starting fluid?

The fuel pump relay rubber mounting strap is attached to a tab on the frame located just behind the fuel pump, pic attached, fig. 65.
