    I don't understand this comment:

    "coveted 5tht Generation"

I thought the 3rd Gen is considered the best.

Or failing that....the 2nd Gen, even.....

    No?

Fuel Injected, but still Gear Driven Cams.

EDIT: I was just stating what he probably meant. Everybody knows the one(s) you have is (are) the best one(s).

But it's the 4th Gen, obviously.

I might offer a debate on that one... I did have a 4th too, I couldnt say which one is my favorite. Each has a slightly different personality, similar but different.

    Interesting.

So FI > Carbs...all things equal? Or only because they are more fool proof/lower maintenance?

I like the over looks of the earlier bikes. Hell...the RC 15 is probably the prettiest of them all......

I absolutely LOVE how the 1990 - 1997 bikes carburate and run compared to later models. They are silky smooth and linear.

But people are afraid of carbs these days, so they tend to gravitate towards the 98-01, giving them both of what they want. At the expense (imo) of linked brakes and complexity.

A de-linked Gen 5 is pretty fuckin' cool tho.

My '72 914 has a factory D-Jetronic fuel injected 2.0 and runs GREAT! Much better than most carbed 914's. That's because so many owners don't know jack about how to maintain/repair FI....they just give up and put carb(s) on them. Many without any other tuning. It's just not that easy.

These Interceptors......the carb stuff doesn't seem all that hard. I don't know much about the FI versions.

They can do whatever they want with their V-TEC bikes. If they just would have made the 1998 an injected evolution sport bike and kept the Gold Wing brakes off of it...

And, yes, I can bash on linked brakes and V-TEC in the 1st & 2nd Gen sub-forum.

Criteria comes down to aesthetics and engineering preferences. Or both together.

I love my '02 Silverado's aesthetics over the new ones. I just don't like all the chrome on the front of the newer ones. Really gaudy, IMHO.

Engineering-wise......gotta love the 4.8 Vortec engine! The steel brake lines were not a very smart approach - I've replaced all those.

On these Interceptors.......I'm not a big fan of what I call the "futuristic" styling of the post-3rd generation models as much. I'm sure they are superior in much of the engineering but the older ones are not badly engineered - nothing that can't be lived with anyway.

Like I said though....that RC15 has to have the most iconic styling, no?

It is the Bay Area which is half populated by meth heads. That is a 1-1500 bike at best. Looks like a post Megatron fight that this little bumblebee lost.
