What's the heaviest load you've carried on a VFR?

Just wondering how much weight these bikes can handle. I know my 98 says the capacity is around 380lbs. But really, what have people actually carried on their bikes? there's got to be some two-up riders out there that have weighed these babies down quite a bit?

 

i dont know but i remember spring break at palm springs,ca. in the 90's there was some gsxr's with some real fat chicks on the back one guy you could see was had his work cut out for him ?
as for me maybe one of my sons but there under 100 lbs ? plus me at 221 lbs

besides my BIG behind... I carry my 110lb wife and my 120lb daughter.

my 240 + 120 = 360lbs no issues besides I am sure I am wearing my brakes more. In fact I know I am wearing my brakes more. they are being replaced as I write this. Also, I go 2 up for about 1/3 of my riding.

 

my 200+wifes 160(she's 5'11") and a tank bag.

next closest to sturgis about 50 in gear and camping equipment.

 

As bad as it sounds my wife, but that is my fault as I push or pull 300 on my own depending on the season. So some where in the 425-450 range; bike handled very poorly.:boom:

 

Was that with the stock suspension or have you upgraded any of it?

 

My bike did well with the boyfriend and I on it, although some of the really big bumps were a little much. He is a tall guy (6'4) and together we're probably somewhere around that limit, and even more when we've gone to get a backpack full of groceries on it. Stock suspension!

 

Well my 160+leather gear, girlfriend 130+cortech gear, a 5lbs. tank bag (g.f.'s purse, camera, couple bottles water, etc.), and both saddle bags filled with 35 lbs total. So around 350ish? Bike handled fine, mostly freeway. Definately start to feel it off the line and stopping.

 

300 lbs passengers, 50 lbs gear...crank up the shock, no ill effects on a long trip thru the mtns...

Stock suspension, well I have progressive springs in the front but the rear for the time is still stock. I have ridden w/ my son who is a bit lighter than my wife & that seemed fine handling wise, I think its more of a distribution of weight problem that caused the problem she may have been sitting to far back I don't recall

 

Wife and I with the bags loaded has to be 575-600lbs. Bike didn't feel too bad on highway but there is no way I would ride like this in the twistys. I did increase preload but I typically ride with it only 1-2 steps down from the top anyway as I am probably 320 in full gear. I did weight my Givi hard bags when loaded for my Daytona trip and each were around 50lbs each full. Just me and the bags loaded or empty is great- I don't take the bags off anymore- my wife hates riding so Bike doesn't have to pull us both anymore.

 

Just me and the wife total 325# or so. I hardly know she's back there. The views in the mirrors don't get around my shoulders.

But 4 sheets of 5/8th sheet rock, a five galon pail of joint compound and four bags of sakrete realy slow things down. Those extra bungee cords realy come in handy ;-))

Well went for a ride w/ me(230), wife (180) and bottomed out on a speed bump...center stand hit.

never noticed how much more the bike sagged. I should not this is a 6 gen and i did NOT adjust the suspension as it is set up just for me.
