I have only had my brand new vfr for a week and I am already scuffing up the tank on it. What tank bras have people tried on their VFRs? Is one tank bra better than another, or does it just come down to aesthetics? Anyone know of a good online place to get one?

    Cheers,
    -Jon

I like the plastic guards that stick to the rear of the tank better than tank bra’s. The problem with bra’s here in NM is the dust. Once it gets under the bra it can rub on the paint. One of the guys I ride with went to an automotive tint shop and had a clear plastic film put on his tank. It wraps around the sides and back of the tank. You don’t even notice it unless you look close. Another option is the ones from Mag-Knight (http://www.mag-knight.com/). I like them because you can’t tell that their even on the tank. Good luck which ever option you go with.

I have used Lockhart Philips tank bras for years - It goe off/on in seconds and is a cheap piece of mind item for scratch resistance. I pull it off every bike wash. Pic in my gallery.

Thanks for the posts. Man, what a beautiful bike Mello. I'll get some pictures of my new bike when I get it back from the shop.

IMO...None, I love the looks of the bikes with out bras again IMO thou just what is it your doing that would scuff or scratch up your tank? I've had many bikes, never had any problem with keeping the tank like new condition. other than the real faint dull part in the knee area where I tend to hang on in the tight stuff. even then it's just a good wax job to bring out the shine.

When I get into the turns, I like to be leaning forward across the tank. I like to wear a backpack with camelbak and clothing layers in it. Even though I have only ridden the bike for 4 days, there are already some spots of abrasion on the tank.

Spud, where did you get your tank bra. Do you have any pictures with it on your bike?

Edit: I was looking for the targa tank bra online, and I only found it listed for '02- '05. Will this bra fit the '06?

I've a lockhart phillips and it works great EXCEPT it does not go far enough up the tank. When in sporting mode, I'm laying flat down on that tank on the straights and sliding over it left to right each turn. It is rapidly scuffing the paint between the back of the gas filler and the leading edge of the tank bra.
Is there a full tank bra for VFR? Couldn't get targa's server to respond this morning.
    Thanks,
    SCW
