If you where to have the option to relocated to anyplace in the lower 48, where would you move to be able to enjoy riding year round on great roads? If I could, I'd go to the land of Oz, they seem to have it pretty good over there.

I would move to Maggie Valley, NC tomorrow if I could.

If required to leave the good old US of A, I would either like to live in Germany or Queensland, Australia.

Back home to NM, if I could figure out how to pay the bills, I'd be there.

I think it's pretty tough to beat Northern California.

I already did that. I had no connections here whatsoever. I traveled all over the western half of the US and found the best place for me. I can ride year round, my home steadily appreciates, and I can lanesplit! There is no better place for year round riding than right here... click Find Me over to the left there to see where I mean.

p.s. I did about 200 miles today with 6 other riders with temps from 39 in am to 69 in afternoon. Beauty weather, nice waves at the beach campground where we ate. Doesn't get any better...

I hope by OZ you don't mean Australia  I thought you said the lower 48. I would have to say that the area I live now is the best for me, you might not be able to ride 100% of the time, but when the weather's decent you have some of the best roads in the country here. I've been all over the world and most people I've met that have visited SF and the surrounding area all say it is the nicest place they have ever been. There aren't too many cities like SF........

If its purely based on riding, then you cant really beat California with the biggest reason being little rain.

Anywhere in the world, then you cant beat Australia, for many reasons, including the whole country has the same population as California, yet Australia is as big as the US. That means lots of room to move.

One day I will move back there, and take my bikes with me.

I don't mean to be rude... Actually, I do, I just write that to make people feel better.

Anyway, if you actually say that San Fran is a nice place, then your opinion counts less than Diane Fienstein's at a NRA convention. SF It is a lunatic asylum of the highest order. I have been there & would prefer prison to it.

Gonna have to disagree with that as a suitable place to move to. Yah the roads are great, but the place is a cross between Disneyland and Vegas for hillbillies, not a place to actually live.

Of ALL the states I've ridden through, Tennessee was my least favorite because of the other drivers on the road, the most impolite truckers on the planet and all the cops there whose sole point in life is to pull you over.

And before all you hillbillies flame me back, I was in Gatlinburg for a family reunion. [IMG]

I would go to San Diego CA, even though the population is high , and the traffic is pretty bad, there is alot of beautiful riding down there.

Damn you're fast Yes I was. ;) What I was thinking out right was my move, not yours, as in members here, so I kept it to the lower 48 to keep it simple. Yea every time I look at the map and area I'd move to, Fort Brag looks mighty fine, I also like the area just north of Santa Cruz thou, I'm not a big fan of traffic nor a lot of folks. So.....?? We have it pretty good up here, but it's only for 5 months out of the year, so was curious how others felt about where they are and if they could move where too.

I did have the chance to move anywhere in the U.S. and did a lot of research before I made to move to Washington, yes you only get six months of riding but what a six month's it is! Coming from an area that had a nine month riding season, I must say I do miss the extra three months, but the beauty of the area I live in and the lack of cagers on the road where I ride more than make up for it. As far as moving to a warmer climate to ride, I really like the Big Sur area in California...

Northern California bay area. Expen$ive but has some really great bike roads.

I'm one mile from the twisties that lead up to Alice's restaurant.

Lots of large redwood trees and a great ride to the ocean.

I was born here and have been to most other states and still think this area is the greatest.

    Biggest negative....too many people.

    Good question RVFR:

Well I ahve seen little of the US compared to many of you, but I was in Colorado last year and it ahd some twisty roads that where unbelievable. My wife could read my face and she said: "Wish you where on the bike right now?"

If weather was NOT an issue, then upstate PA (I'm from their). Has some twisty ass roads that I've ridden and the only thing that beats them is a track day.

However, I've always heard California and the Carolinas are the best.
