Ok, so I'm not much of a mechanic, & I'm man enough to admit it...

I hear a lot of people talk about replacing rectifiers on these bikes.
Is there a year when Honda actually fixed the problem & it's not a concern anymore?

If not, is this something that should be done preemptively? If so, what do I need to purchase?
Is it a "plug & play" kinda thing or do I have to take it to the stealership?

    Thanx
    Phil

Honda never had to fix it since they never claimed it was busted. The R/R itself is easy to replace. If you get the harness it's a bit more. A Honda dealer will tell you that if you have an aftermarket R/R and harness that both are pieces of shit. Save the stocker that is still working, wrap it in bubble wrap and duct tape and stow it under your seat. If a R/R fries. You stop and that's it. Ain't no fix except replacement.

One of the guys who has an 08 can fill you in on the details for a changeover. Or, one of the harleydoods will chimp in with a glory story.

    Long,

You are a nice guy but you are using "weasel words" on this one. Shit parts are shit parts and Honda is never going to admit to anyone that they built hundreds of VFRs with shit parts.

I can only think of one scenario where Honda might have actually fixed this. Sales of their Police bikes to the various PD's in Japan. This only because they had to.

Weasel words , using a couple of examples and there are many, is using terms like "always" and "never" with no proof at all.

This one is even better... and used by the fat farms.. "Lose 20 lbs" 20 lbs of what? bone, tissue, hair, bellybutton lint, toenail clippings, dandruff, an anorexic girlfriend, the results of OD ing on ExLax?

BTW if the Canadians are the only dudes having problems they deserve it and if they had any sense at all they'd buy American bikes from Harley-Davidson..

What y'all are missing is that Randy has one of the rare water cooled R/Rs

There used to be cigarette ad that said, "I'd walk a mile for a Camel." I walked about ten once when the POS R/R crapped out on my bike. If I had a fucking camel I would have ridden the SOB.. I'd even had ridden a Harley!

Well, I may change my mind on that part.
