I am expecting my new tires to arrive tomorrow and would like to take my wheels off and be ready to have them mounted. I would like to know what tools are needed to take off the front and rear wheels. Please list sizes if you know them...thanks

off the top of my head.... (just had the wheels off two weeks ago)

    Front:
    Axle Pinch Bolts: 12mm

Axle Bolt: big lol... i think I used a standard size b/c my metric set didn't go high enough...it fit close enough that the edges didn't get rounded. You'll need a rod to go through the other side of the axle for leverage when you're breaking it loose.

Brake Calipers: 12mm and a hex key

Brake discs: metric hex key (don't remember if my tire guy made me take them off or not)

    Rear:

Exhaust Hanger: not sure...14mm bolt maybe and not sure what the nut size was..

    Exhaust Pinch Bolts:12mm

Lug Nuts: pretty sure it's 19mm

If you have the service manual it will show you exactly how to take both wheels off along with the tools required. You can get a free PDF of the manual at Downloads

You'll have to a free registration with them before you can download the service manual.

I've taken both wheels off and I strongly recommend for the front wheel to take the right brake off first. It will make your life MUCH easier, trust me. The service manual shows you how to take it off as part of the wheel removing procedure.

Well the rear wheel is 19mm. Just remove the 4 lug nuts, and the wheel will come right off. Next, a 12mm socket to loosen the pinch bolts. Then the axle nut. Then a punch and rubber mallet, to lightly tap the axle out. Then your front wheel will slide out from between the forks. You don't need to remove the calipers or anything. Really quite simple. Then take your wheel down to get new tires mounted.
