The time for Winter tear down has begun and I am in the market for stands.

What size spool is used for the rear? I think I saw that Honda uses both 28MM and 31MM but which one goes for the 00 VFR?

Also, I might buy a front stand that uses the triple tree, so if anyone knows what pin to use for that, I would also appreciate it.

This winter is going to be fun. New plastics, fuel filter, full brake bleed, rear caliper rebuild, rear master rebuild, new pads, PAIR system removal, new muffler, maybe led headlights, oil pan, plastics mounting points that were jacked up from P.O, new front tire.

Sorry, what do you mean by "spool"? I've got a 99 VFR and can measure it up in a few hours when I get home, if you can please explain?

Maybe I used the wrong term but it's the part of the stand that would go into the center hold of the hub in the swing arm. Maybe the better word is pin

And the answer is an ID of 27.4mm on the rear axle.

Awesome. Thank you for the measuring.

Now I am having a hard time finding the right pin since I keep seeing either a 31 or 28MM. Oh well, I am just keeping away from Bull Dog stands because I cannot fathom the cost for a stand as simple as that.

I'm a fan of making my own stands. My TL1000R has a Ducati swingarm. I ended up sifting through my tool box for a deep socket that would fit it (a craftsman 5/8" deep hex socket was perfect) and used that and some hex stock for my spool. Worked beautifully. Did the same with my VFR750 swingarm on the GSXR. Just requires a little ingenuity and the ability to use what you have at hand.

    Hey guys.
Figure I report my findings and happy purchase.
Thanks to Cadbury64, I ended up getting a Venom front triple tree stand and a Ducati single side swing arm rear stand for 52 bucks shipped.
Ducati's have the same size spool as our VFR's and about every low priced but decent design stands show Honda as 28 or 31mm spools. Found a cross fit chart and my bike happily sits off the ground on stands.

Well, you don't have to worry about the Pit Bull stand being flimsy so you wonder if it will hold the bike. Sometimes you get what you pay for and sometimes you need to pay a bit more for some quality. JMO anyway.
