Valvoline w/ 25% lucas additive. Planning on switching over to Amsoil after satifying myself that there won't be any clutch slippage issues(older bike).

I don't have a preference right now. I may use Bel-ray when i change, or Amsoil.

I've used Amsoil, both the 10-40 and the Vtwin stuff I think it is 20-40 or 20-50, both are Motorcycle specific oils. Either one works well, I have had no oil related issues. At first I used only amsoil oil filters, but have heard that purolator pure 1 filters were just as good or better and also Mobil 1 filters and believe it or not the less than $3 WalMart SuperTech filters. I have not tried the WalMart ones yet, but am seriously considering them for my next oil change.

    Amsoil or Repsol

Synthetic lasts longer and is better for your gearbox as synthetic is less suceptable to shear.

I'm using amsoil right now with a napagold (wixx) filter. They were both based on the reccomendation of my napa dealer. I usually go there for all my auto parts needs and they seem to do me right.

Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-40 motorcycle oil - I decided to go that way based on a series of tests by Sport Rider magazine. I buy it buy the case and use it both in my VFR800 and my Valkyrie.

    oil &filter

I use Mobile 1 Full Synthetic MXT4 motorcycle with a Bosch filter 3323 which is cross reference to the Mobile 1 M1-M01 ( I think that is the number) No problem on my 00vfr800.

    Castrol full synthetic.
Filter is Purolator PL14612. Anyone using Honda OEM should cut one open sometime and compare it to a Purolator Pure One...you'll never turn back, the componenets are far superior. Drainback valve, pleated area on filter media, micron rating of capture, construction of bypass valve all superior.

    Wal Mart / Old Sock

I have an old sock that you can use for an oil filter if you want to use the Sprawl-Mart filter. It's a VFR for God's sake!:caked:

So your offer of the old sock that I can use for an oil filter, are you going to throw in the shipping charges also? If not how much would it be to ship to zip code 48234? Please wash it first. Do you think it will be reuseable?

    Old sock filter

I'll mail you the old sock.

When I bought it I didn't make the supplier sell it to me a a cost lower than his regular filter (I mean sock), unlike Wally World.

Don't be a cheapskate. If you're going to skimp, don't do it on your oil filter.

I don't know if I'd be so quick to dismiss the Wal-Mart filter in favor of OEM. I wouldn't be suprised if they're sourced from the same manufacturer and just get a differnt paint job.
Just because you lay out $10 to $15 on a filter vs. $4 doesn't make it better.
Maybe I should start a collection to fund the purchase of a dozen or so filters by different retailers and manufacturers and get the real scoop here. A date with a band saw could be very revealing.
I don't know how Wal-Mart (Supertech) stacks up, but I will tell you that the OEM filter is a turd compared a $5 Pure One Purolator.
Same goes for oil. I read (granted this is years ago) that motorcycle specific oils performend no better than car oils for viscosity breakdown, and Castrol dino oil outperformed motorcycle specific synthetic from Amisoil and Honda.
Get your data before buying into the scam and prematurely emptying your pocketbook. Cheap may very well be smart too!
