Thinking about selling my 1990 VFR 750F and wanted to get some input on what its worth.

    Bike only has 2730 miles

When I say fully original, I mean like totally original. Bike still has the original tires (no dry rot, but they are for sure a little on the old side) . Bike was stored for many years on bike stands in a climate controlled garage. Fluids were drained and fuel stabilizer etc all done. Just been fully serviced, and starts / runs perfectly without even the need for choke

1 owner bike. Complete with toolkit, handbook, workshop manual and so on

Would appreciate any thouhts on value and any experiences people have selling these bikes

Wow, Nice bike for sure, if it's all like you say. I'd start at $5K and go from there. All though it, could also depend on your demographics, as in your location. bikes in say remote BFE won't fetch near what they would in like Mountain view Ca. Be ready to have it shipped if you want a good return. Be ready to have all your Docs in order too, some one interested will surely want to get a feeling you have your act together. On another Note, where are the Photos of this mentioned artifact? Other wise it's all hear say ;)

I think I would put new tires on it and keep the original tires (show them in the photos). Those are only good for a museum piece and this production piece most likely will not go to a collector. Thus having the original tires on the positive side would show some air of meticulousness about you, but the bike would be ready to ride as well. Two pluses.

Get a ballpark by accessing one of the "Bluebook" sites. Google: vintage japanese motorcycle forum" as an operator. This will put you in touch with actual owners of these vintage machines. Current "vintage" is 20 years old, so they say.

    Those old Dunlops are shot...

    What. A. Beauty!
All things given as true, someone who wants it badly for their collection of...I wouldn't let it go for under $5,300.
Of course, advertising it's availability to the right clientele will be key. That and patience.
Love it--its just like mine except for that duckbill rear fender.
Thank God I already spent my tax return.

Your bike has super low miles and is in great shape but your pool of potential buyers is going to be pretty small since we are still talking about a 25+ year old bike. A collector might be willing to pay $5000+ and it would likely take quite a while before you find the right buyer. If you are "motivated" to sell it I think a more realistic price would be in the $4000 - $4500 range. As reference several years ago I bought a mint condition 1993 VFR for $2000 and it had 7k miles on it and I put about $400 into getting it back into proper riding shape. Over the years I've seen plenty of very well kept, low mileage (less than 10k miles) 3rd Gens on Craigslist and they tend to sit out there for long periods of time when they are priced over $4000. To a non-collector who is planning on actually riding the bike there is no huge difference between a bike with 3k miles versus a comparable bike with 15k miles to justify the huge price difference (assuming it was well taken care of) Collectors who rarely ride their bikes are more influenced by low mileage.

You have more self control than I will ever muster. How on earth you managed to have that beautiful thing sitting in your garage for so long without riding it is beyond my understanding.
Good luck with the sale, it's lucky I'm on the other side of the world because my missus hasn't forgiven me for buying one VFR, buying another one would probably mean a divorce. :)

That bike is in great shape! Wow!

I bought a 86 750 intercepter to restore and sell, well.. I've decided to keep it, after I put new tires and had it tuned up, the gear drive that whines louder than the exhaust note at low speeds through town, and the torque.

I've ridden a lot of newer sport bikes over the years, a 30 year old bike fits my riding needs way more than what is out there. If you don't find someone looking for that specific bike, you will have to look at what is offered to a person looking for a daily driver at the 5g's price range. There are a lot of bikes in that range.

Amazing machine!! If I had the money it would be s hard find to pass up.
