I've been seeing posts about the VFR being down on power and references to other sportbikes. 94 and up VFR's make approx. 100 rwhp and are good for 150 MPH or better. How many of us actually ride that fast? I'm looking at RZ 350s and Yamaha lists top speeds at 115mph. I've never heard anyone say that an RZ is slow. A 06 GSXR beats the VFR through the 1/4 by less than 1 second. Ponder that reality. A real pro can beat a Gixxer w/ aVFR. I have a friend who may outrun most of us if he was on a pogo stick.:drum:
yeah I had a friend who ran with liter bikes all day on his 600. he was just a decent rider. when they'd hit the straights they'd pull away and in the cursves he'd reel them back. hell a racer can take an EX500 and embarass most of us in the twisties...
I certainly do not need any more HP. I have had mine up to 230kph on the road and was unwilling to give it any more. There seemed still some to come. The best apart about riding the VFR is in the curves, and here a little less weight would be great. I am sure Honda could take 10- 15kg off this bike if they tried , but then it may eat too much into their sport bike market.
true, the vfr does feel a little like a cow to me after riding a pure sports bike. I have thought of lightening it up some more on my own, but I'm not sre if it's worth the money since I mostly just putt around in town and to work.
I must admit it feels heavier than my Radian, which it is (474 for the VFR, according to bikez.com, vs. 436 for the Radian). Not sure how accurate that is though. At least I can get the viffer up on the center stand, which I can't do with the Radian. lol I alos have to admit this thing will haul balls.:bolt:
What is fast? Fast is the point at which your sphincter overrides your right wrist! The VFR will achieve this involuntary motor reflex for 99% of riders. The more I hang out at the track, the more I see riders eat their egos and put their liter bikes on the auction block. The majority end up with a 600cc sport bike after a season of trying to achieve excellence on their big bore machines. There seem to be two main reasons for this, A, The liter bike eats rear tires at an unbelievable rate ($200 per weekend minimum) B, Better riders are passing them on much smaller machines (major reality check) I'm looking for a 600 myself but for different reasons. Primarily because I do not want to wad up my beautiful VFR and secondly, because there are plently of track ready 600's on the market that have all the suspension upgrades that I need. Track bikes are cheap!!!:biggrin:
when I wwas considering racing, I mainly looked at EX500 Ninjas because they are so plentiful. Hawks are cool, too but more expensive. Also the FZR 400 is good but again more $$ & harder to find... The smaller classes are way less crowded. The hawk can race in them cause it's a twin at least last time I checked. this was several years ago.
New Gixxer 1000 I rode a new Gixxer 1000 this weekend. They had to use a crowbar to pry my sphinter off the seat. I also saw a 06 CBR1000RR for sale for $8k with 18(!) miles. Must have scared the George W. Bush out of that guy.:drum: My VFR is fast enough, if the VFR feels too heavy, eat your wheaties, girlie!
I Belive You Get A Bike For How You Plan On Riding. Now With That Being Said I Think Its Great When Guys On There "super Sport 600" Relize They Were Held By A Sport/tourer. I Feel The Same As Most Of You In That It's The Rider Not Just The Bike.
You got that right! I Feel The Same As Most Of You In That It's The Rider Not Just The Bike. However, the more I prep for Road America next week, the more I think that I should really have a 600 to flog. I would have to keep the Veefer for every other task, as nothing compares.
I think so too Jethro. I just hate to think of throwing the vfr down racing it. It's just too pretty to me. Id rather have an old sportbike made just for racing to do that with. Im still cosidering getting a little ex500 just to do that with just to hone my smoothness through corners and such. the vfr makes it to easy to blast out of corners.
