Most of you know I traded my VF750F for a Super Blackbird. When I first got the BB I did the typical research on it and it's characteristics and quirks. I noticed the similarities between my Interceptor and the BB. Both were with 3lbs of each other dry weight, wheel base within 1/2", rake close and other little things. Then I noticed other similarities and parts with the VFR750.

I was poking around today looking for some specific BB info and came across this as one of the few surprises I've found. (Towards the bottom of the link)

    Mr Yamanaka
He was Honda’s project leader for the BlackBird . He was also the project leader for the VFR750. The BlackBird project started in December of 1993 and the first BlackBird test bikes were being ridden in August 1994! His goals were to combine the power of a 1000cc-plus road bike with the handling of a middle-weight without building a race replica and to provide comfort. And you know what?..He did a damn good job of it., don't you think

Says a lot about both bikes. So was Honda trying to merge the two with the VFR1200? mmmmm interesting
