Not my taste either. Seems like a case of 'gilding the lilly' to me, but to each their own. If this look pleases YOU, that's all that really matters.

    Definition of 'Gilding the lilly':

    1. To adorn unnecessarily something already beautiful.
    2. To make superfluous additions to what is already complete.

Isn't that retro back to the 1990 VFR? Didn't it have gold rims and a red paint job? To be different, I don't think it looks bad at all.

... or was it 1991 that had the light gold rims and red paint?

This is the 2009 Version of the VFR that Spain Gets. It comes with Gold/Bronze Painted Rims. I just swapped on these Anodized Ones for a comparision. I think it looks sportier with the Black Treatment Honestly. But that might just be me?

I remember getting a lot of similar responses when I was telling people about painting my BMW wheels gold. I say if you can visualize it in your head then go for it. 1) It's only important what you think 2) It usually looks a lot better than what nay-sayers think

Ironically all the people that told me my car would look ghetto loved my gold wheels!

I don't like the bright gold, but the duller look the ducati has is pretty nice I think. But I always loved the 916 with the gold wheels so it might be nostalgia on my part. I considered doing it on my 98 but I keep waffling. I have a source for powedercoating pretty cheap, too.
