    I came across this thread in a search. I apologize if it's a re-post.

The guy throws out "what is so great about VFRs and why do they cost so much". Some interesting points people have about our beloved machines (if you sort through the dribble).

Sport-Touring.Net - What, exactly, is so magical about the VFR?

WOW! I can't believe it. The member "crhoades" has the 93 Pearl White VFR I used to own. The same exact one! LOL!

I always wondered were the 93 ended up. I am very glad to see its putting a smile on someone elses face still.

    Very cool!

They think enough of VFR's to throw up 9 pages of posts!

Almost as much as Gay Mariage got here.

    Nice find.

Well worth a slow read, like some of the replys to the magical VFR question, the one below from " traveler " speaks volumes....It is wonderful how many VFRs are in spectacular condition with big miles yet still able to hunt down and shame modern Sports bikes through the twisties and have owners that that'll bitch slap anyone looking at their VFRs keys the wrong way, I know I have.

    From " traveler "

" Others have already mentioned the obvious reasons for both its popularity (relatively speaking) and its high cost of purchase/ownership.

I'm on my second VFR, having owned a '96 4th gen (>74,000 miles) and now own a '00 5th gen (>75,000 miles). The bike just works for me. I did an exhaustive amount of research prior to buying the '96 VFR, after not riding for about twenty years. Nothing but positive press, whatever magazine I read. So I bought it. Not too powerful, not too heavy (again, relatively speaking), reasonable insurance, decent performance envelope, quality engineering. My experience with that bike was positive enough to compel me to buy the one I currently have. Purchased in 2001 for $6500 with <2600 miles, I got the steal of the year, as heli-bars, Yosh exhaust and several other extras were included.

Love the sound, looks great in yellow, fast enough for this fossil, and is capable of performance well in excess of my own capabilities. My VFRs have been two of the best vehicle purchases I've ever made, and the '00 continues to put a smile on my face whenever I ride it. Like a fine piece of billet CNC machined art, it's solid and functional, yet has qualities beyond appearance.

What, exactly, is so magical about the VFR? It works, on every level. "

I hate it mine so much that I put it up for sale no less than three times, offered it for trade a couple more. 3 years later and after visiting several states together, I would sell it only if I'm getting another one.
Sometimes loving a machine takes time, an open mind, and lots of time together. Sort of an acquired taste.
