    Hi-

Thank you in advance to all who contribute and help me along this process. I always have an open ear to anyone with more experience, and this seems to be the place to find it.

I am considering buying a new motorcycle up the road, it is a 1990 Honda VFR750F. I've heard lots of good things about this year/make/model specifically. It is a third generation owner and it has 9,330 miles on it. There isn't a scratch on it that i can find, except under the fenders and such, which i would imagine to be expected. I haven't heard it run so i can't tell if it is burning anything or sounds funny. All the hoses look new/clean and there aren't any signs of cracking or dryrot type stuff (again) that i could find.

PLEASE help me to find something that i'm overlooking. Do these models ever overheat? Electrical problems?

This will also be my first motorcycle ever. I had taken a rider safety course about two years ago and have my cycling endorsement, and it was a blast at the time, i can't wait to get one for myself. AGAIN, thanks in advance to everyone.

    :drum:

    Hi Ryan,
My '90 was my first bike as well and I've never had any issues with it over the last 8 years. Many have reported RR (electrical) failures but mine's original and still no probs (although those same people will say it's only a matter of time...) Again, I've never had mine actually overheat, but they do get pretty warm, especially in traffic and can spit out alot of heat (esp. on the right lower leg) but the rad fan should kick on and take care of that...
I'd inquire about fluid changes, plug replacement and other basics as that is pretty low mileage and hopefully the p.o. took care to address these before storing it. Other than that, enjoy the ride.

I'm assuming that you still have the same motorcycle...what type of upgrades have you done to your bike?? Exhaust? Bags? Windscreen? Saddle? Bars? Any type of brand loyalty would be appreciated and how you liked and didn't like them. Thanks.

Really no upgrades at all other than installing a K&N air filter after realizing an OEM was more expensive and more likely to need replacing sooner. Other than that the bike has suited me fine as is. Try it out as stock and go with what feels as though it NEEDS replacing - I think you'll find not alot does, but YMMV. Enjoy!
