What did you ride before buying your VFR?

This is a pretty short list for me. I had a 1992 Katana 600. It was my first bike, and it did me proud for about 4 years.

This was the last paint job it had before I sold it. I put the fender back on after this picture:

This is my list as best as I can recall! I had many of these bikes at the same time.

    1986 VF500F (1st One)
    1987 CBR600
    1986 VF500F (2nd One)
    1992 EX500 (Kawasaki - was actually a great bike)
    1993 CBR600
    1986 VF500F (3rd One)
    1999 VFR800FI (5th Gen)
    1986 VFR750F
    1986 VF500F (4th One)
    1986 VF1000R
    2007 VFR800FI (6th Gen)

As you can see, I was always partial to the VF500F. I always kept coming back to it which ultimately led me to the VFR.

Good thread - thanks for asking.

Fun but uncomfortable as hell for any longer than 30 minutes.

Before that, way before...the wife and I each had early 90's ZX6s.

I used to ride mostly super sport bikes, but right now, I have couple bikes to ride depending on the mood I am in. I have a VFR and a KTM RC8R..

2002 CBR 954. I still have it. Currently it is in a state of disassembly for repair due a crash at the track two years ago. It's been sitting for all that time and I within an hour of getting the engine back out of it.

Great bike, comfortable for long rides, sporty enough for the weekends. After about 4 years I wanted something with fuel injection, hard luggage options, and of course more power :)

    2004 Honda Reflex 250 (scooter)
    1992 Honda Nighthawk 750

I loved that Nighthawk, but the wife said I could only keep one.

Let's see, started on a step through Yamaha 50, then a Honda S90, Next Honda CL160, then a Yamaha 180 twin jet (at the time I considered it my 1st "big bike" and rode it from Jax FL to Leesburg VA and back). Next up was my 1st "superbike" a '71 Norton Commando 750 which was in the only car/bike accident I've ever had, since my Norton was totaled I bought a '71 Triumph Bonneville....my least favorite bike of all times. Then came a '74 850 Commando. Oops, I've left out my '73 Yamaha RD350 that I got post Triumph. Then my Ducati phase starting with a '74 750 GT, then a '78 900 Darmah SD, and again, before the Duc's I had a 1973 Rickman Zundap 125. Then I started to race hare scrambles and went through a '86 Husky 400 WR (a real beast), a '97 KTM250SX set up for the woods, then a '99 KTM200exc, then an 03 KTM200exc, a '99 Honda CR125, set up for the woods. I've also had a '86

    Lemme see, not necessarily in order, 1963 Honda C-65, 1964 Honda S90, 1971 Honda CB350, 1971 Triumph Bonneville, 1973 Triumph Bonneville, 1976 Triumph Bonneville, 1969 Bultaco Matador, 2 Yamaha DT175's, Suzuki 185, 1974 Kawasaki Z-1, Yamaha RD 350, Yamaha RD 400, 1978 Yamaha XS750, Yamaha Virago 920, 1980 Suzuki GS850G, 1985 Honda VF700R, 1986 Yamaha FJ1200, 1982 Honda Gold Wing, 1999 Honda VFR800, 2004 Honda Silverwing scooter.

Seems like there are a couple others, but can't remember. CRS syndrome.

I've been married for 18 years and have 3 kids. Most of those bike were acquired during that time. And yes, my wife is the best!

Before I got the VFR1200 I had this and still have it. It's not going anywhere and I just got a spare engine for it for use in 10 years or so.

    04 CBR1000RR

Wow, I don't feel like I am in the same league with most of you guys.
In the late 80's I got an '82 GS 850L. Put about 60,000km on that then traded it for a truck in about '95. Skip ahead to last summer and a deal fell into my lap with an '83 GS 850g. Realized how much I missed riding but also how much I didn't like that type of bike anymore.. Sold my 4Runner, didn't want to but was the only way I could afford the 2002 VFR that I am loving riding.

Before my 500 I had this POS for about 6 months. When I bought it the forks ended up being bent slightly and he hid a slight scrape on the frame near the engine. I decided to turn it into a track bike but then a mechanic told me my car blew a head gasket. I dumped the bike real fast (for $200 less than I bought it), only to find out that the car didn't have a blown head gasket and the guy was jerking me around... f*cker...

I still always loved the lines on that bike though. Especially the nose.

Always loved that special edition. I almost bought one in the plain raw titanium a few years back. Bank wasn't helping me out and it got away. The guy was selling to fund the purchase of a Desmosedici!!!

    Pics of the RC8R???

She's a sexy beast. I really would want one but not the position...
