These two bikes I really like because they have most of the upgrades I want, Heli's,Corbain or Sargent and luggage for that 3 or 4 time trip a year to a some remote far off place with the wife. They are probably only a $1000.00 difference in price and it comes down to 2001 vs. 2004 http://portland.craigslist.org/mcy/185864842.html http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/3/3/84969233.htm
If it were me and I had the money, I would buy the 04 model. It just looked cleaner with the bags on it than the 01 did. But its really up to you and what you are willing to pay. Both bike are FI (fuel injected) so no real difference there. Not sure when the VTEC came into play tho.
Man, that's a tough call. I ride a 5th gen myself will all those upgrades minus the hard bags. How close are those prices to book value? Which seller is more motivated? I think either is a good choice. Have you looked at both personally? Is there anything making you lean one way or the other? Are all the options ones you would add? Options shouldn't add value to the bike unless you would almost certainly add them later. I have a Sargent seat and I can tell you, it is pretty nice. I can't compare Givi vs corbin bags, but I have heard more about givi. I have give screen and you can read all about the different screens in a recent thread if you search the forums. I have heli bars, and they are pretty nice to me, but I can't compare them to stock as they were on the bike and I have no desire to change my riding posture since they're already there. I like how the 04 tucks the pipes, but does that make the passenger warmer? I haven't heard anything like that, though so it's prob not a problem. I think the 04 looks super sweet from the side, but I like the 01 from the front. Boy, I'm not much help huh? I guess it justcomes down to personal preference, but I think you're a winner with either... Oh don't forget, 01 gear driven cam vs 04 VTEC. Do you have a prefernce on that? Again, I only am familiar with the former so I'm no help on that either. I guess I'm just no help all the way around huh.
