Hello to all! I'm posting here for a friend that is commuting & sport-touring on a 2005 VFR800 with factory optional hard bags. He wants to install a backrest on his VFR and he wants it to be removable relatively quickly when riding solo.

Both him and I knows about Corbin products but it is a quite expensive solution. And, because he thinks VFR's OEM seat is confortable enough, an after-market seat (and the related $$ expense) is not really needed. So, while Corbin is still a possibility, is there another option to use a backrest?

Are there any backrest available somewhere? Does any VFR owner here made himself such a backrest that works and looks good? My friend could possibly design and have his own model fabricated but we both think it is way better to ask first to the experts you all are. Thanks a lot!!

Claude, I have never heard of such a beast. I'm having a hard time picturing how you could fab it and it look good. I suppose you might be able to make soemthing from a cruiser catalog work, but the pillow would be a different color/texture than what he'd get.
