Hi all. New to the forum. I'm own a '98 Nighthawk 750, first and only bike, for 10 years. Commuting 2-3 days per week pre-covid, and 2 - 4 hour rides on weekends. So that's the profile. But I want more . Weekend touring and maybe the week long trip to wherever. I've been looking at mid-weight sport tourers that have standard options of luggage, cc, heated, etc. I think I've overlooked the VFR and focused too much on the Yamaha Tracer 900 GT or Versys 1000. The FJR 1300 and the Kaw Concourse seem too heavy for me. Why not buy the VFR1200X naked, add new Shad luggage for $750 and call it a day?

You need to go sit on a VFR1200X, it is tall, 34" seat height and has a 19" front wheel (no street tires).... adventure bike and it is big. I had 2 FJR's, and looked for something lighter... Tracer GT, perhaps the new Tracer 9, Versys 1000. What about the original VFR1200?

I’ve owned two Nighthawks, a 650 and 750. Great do-it-all bikes. They definitely lack in power handling but are way more comfortable on a long ride. I think the VFR is a great choice but check out the Ninja 1000sx. And if you want something comfortable like your Nighthawk and you have a bigger budget look at a BMW R1200/1250 R.
