I'm new to riding, just started in April. I got my 96 VFR in April, and so far have put almost 3000 mi on it. I've been using it to commute, run errands, go on group rides, joy rides... etc... Basically whenever it's not raining too hard, I'm riding. I'm trying to get as much experience as I can.

I knew I had a good bike when I bought it... it was well maintained and looked and ran great. But I started noticing that it would bog down sometimes under hard acceleration. I figured it would need some attention soon, and plus I needed a new rear tire anyway, so I took it to the shop this past Monday and asked them to clean the carbs, adjust the valve clearances, tune it up and change the oil.

It cost a pretty penny for all of that, but I'm so glad I did it. I picked up my bike today and OMG, it feels and sounds like a totally different bike. I had to adjust my right hand quite a bit to keep it under control... I couldn't believe that it was even my bike, it felt like a brand new one. The mechanic who worked on it said one of my carbs was really gummed up.... so the bogging down I was feeling was because one cylinder had low compression. Now the bike runs great.

I was honestly thinking of selling my bike next year and buying a newer one, but now even if I do buy a newer one, I'm keeping this one indefinitely.

Just thought I'd share that with ya guys.
