So I'm replacing my stuck open thermostat, following the proceedure per the service manual when suddenly they have me replacing the water joint o-rings!

Wait a minute, I didn't order those. Thermostat and thermostat o-ring, yes. Water joint o-ring, no!

The water joints are two goose neck lookin' things that conduct coolant from each cylinder block to the t-stat housing.

Have any of y'all had these leak? Do you know anyone who's had these leak?

    Thanks

I have a '94. I just replaced the housing and thermostat (new O-ring too). I didn't replace any of the other rubber because it still looked ok. Armor-all the hoses is a recommendation from the shop manual. I don't think you need to replace those if you don't break the seal.

Hi, I guess you only removed the cap of the housing to take out the thermostat and therefore only broke the joint between housing and cap. You would only need to use a new O-ring here. As puffmanxx said above no need to change for the job your doing unless you break their seal.
