    Hello there,

I'm fairly new to this motorcycle thing, having just gotten "bit" last year when I bought a 1970 CL100 on eBay to fix up and give to my son for his birthday. Since then I've bough eight more bikes on eBay, all Honda, including:

    1979 CM185T Twinstar
    1971 CB330
1980 CB750K (currently working on fueling problem)
    1981 CB750K (parts bike)
1989 VTR250 (have three of these, one is a daily rider, the others need love)
    and last but not least...
1987 VFR700F (was riding it, but now it's apart)

So, I was glad to find this forum, and I'll be asking some questions about how to restore the VFR to excellent condition.

Where is a good place to post my first question, which is about cleaning the "red stuff" out of the gas tank. I'm not familiar with the lay of the land yet, so please nudge me in the right direction.

    Thanks,
    Walden

Hello and welcome Walden! It looks like you have already figured out where to post your gas tank questions.

We need pictures! Pictures of dirty dilapidated, crusty (not to be confused with crustyrider) bikes god-damn-it!!!

Pictures of you working on your nasty bikes works too. We are (and I think I can take the liberties of speaking for the general population here) visual people, you get the jist?

No more Marcus Dairy Farm in Danberry CT? What a pity, that was dah shizzle when Me used to live up north...

well, to the point is a good thing is'nt it?

In your face comes to mind too, Yes, I do introduce myself like that, if I met you, I would give a firm hand-shake too, because I equate that with a good personality. (no-reading between the lines!)

There are products out there that you use to get rid of the rust in tanks. Kreem makes a kit, 3 step process, I liked using the acid part with some nuts and bolts to agitate the solution. Not big on using tank liners as I have found they de-laminate from the inner tank and you end up having a floating bag inside your petrol tank. There is an interesting thread here about someone that hooked up a battery to the tank along with cathodes or anodes? and then through electrolosis the rust disapated.

AnywhoOOO..>Velcome to the madness, and ride safe

There is nothing worse than a worthless thread. Let's see if I can make it worthy with a pic. Me in the CT United ride a couple of weekends ago. Sorry, it's the best I can do right now.
