Waiting to ride still snow on the ground

Hi
I'm Hogie and I live in Canmore Alberta
New to forums so any comments or advice would be apreciated
I have an 86 VF500F and an 04 Suzuki Intruder
My VF, like others I have found out, has a baddly leaking petcock valve and haven't had any luck finding a replacement
I have taken it all apart and added what kits are available with no success, even went as far as drilling out the rivets and trying to seal up the valve housing
with no luck here either
Does anyone have a solution to this problem
I have seen some replacement valves on the internet but nothing to fit the 500
