Planning on heading northwest from Spotsylvania to meet up with kj4eoz in Sperryville & picking up 211, then to 42 on the other side of Luray, then to 33 to 220 or 28 then to 250 (none of this is written in stone & we've been known to veer off course~) & return. Time frame looks like meeting in Sperryville around 9 a.m. as this loop will be @ 6 hours. Should be fun!

    Anyone interested in joining us?

We found some absolutely FANTASTIC roads in WV last weekend...

    Wow.....what a day! 10 constant hours of riding~ over 370 miles!

BEAUTIFUL weather & gorgeous vistas and roads. Had a BLAST. Some of the roads were SO GOOD we went back & forth over the mountains multiple times~

    Wish I'd taken more pics...

Are you guys doing this ride every weekend? Is there a hotel nearby? I was thinking about coming down from New Jersey.

Hadn't really planned it every weekend, but I'd certainly do the highway 33 portion again. We RIDE almost every weekend, route/destination to be determined....I'll PM you with my phone number & you can give me a call.

It has been a long time since I rode in that area but I would love to catch up with you one weekend. I would be coming up from the Danville area.

What is the pavement like on 33? 2 lane? I was up there a couple of winters ago but it was on 4 wheels (thankfully) and the roads were snow covered so I couldn't really tell much.

33 is 4 lane dual highway for some of the time & 3 lanes in the mountains for the most part (2 going up, 1 down). Between mountains it's mostly 2 lane. The pavement was PERFECT. A very few scattered gravels in some spots but not much at all considering all the rainfall we've had & the fact these are rock mountains. I think we did hit one spot that has a slew of gravels in the turn but don't recall where that was/what road. There was what looked like washboard in some of the turns but when you actually hit the spots it was quite smooth.

    This was our route:

FYI: the highway 42 section is tres boring.

Nice...I could pretty easily meet at Churchville or west of Harrisonburg somewhere depending on which way you make the loop. I am pretty used to having to suffer through an hour or two of boring to get to good riding!
