Suspected some pieces from UARS will be falling down to Vietnam area, we heading to Vungtau, the most potential place for that. Our idea is to see whether we could utilize the metals and others for our bikes decoration and modification... hehe...

4:30am, starting my Candy Red - remaining gas in the tank should be more than enough to reach the place:

After more than one hour, we got the destination. Gathered at an open breakfast place:

Looking around for the falling pieces, damn difficult to see here:

Just saw the Truong Sa derrick barge with 600MTons for the main hook - where I had chance to work several years ago:

This guy has been riding here the night before, staying here and waiting for us to come. He reported no bang or comet last nite. In general, no smurfs coming down there last night... heheh....

Our team were almost there. But there were still about 5-7 bikes still hanging around with breakfast or morning coffee as they had slept too late the night before:

    Chit chat, as usual:

Hmm... Dont you search for the UARS pieces, guys!??:

What should I comment to the below photos? Just a small, tiny wish that all of those bikes are in my own garage!!! heheheeh......

So much for the thought that they only had small displacement bikes in Vietnam! That's a great collection of machines and what a beautiful place. I love how the green hills and mountains are right up against the ocean. It reminds me of parts of central and northern California. Great pics, thanks for sharing.

You are absolutely right. I'm looking forward to seeing and learning more. Intentionally or not, it seems you've become a motorcycling ambassador for Vietnam.

OOps.... I am not so ambitious to do so... hehe..
Just to share with you guys as a member of VFRW, share and learn from everyone.
California, i.e San Diego where you are staying is quite familiar with me. My younger brother has been graduated from UCSD.
Thanks for your very nice words.

    -----------------------------

Just some more minutes for riding, we reached the meeting place - where the local biker club invited our team and 2-3 more clubs to join.
There were quite numbers of bikes are showing:

The second last row was our team's bikes:

And this, you guys may know much better than me - there are quite numbers of this in Ho Chi Minh City now. I really love the sound from the 45degree V-Twins of HD.

    Outstanding!!!

Big Thanks for the pics VietHorse!

Did you happen to see any other 6th gen. VFR's at the bike meet like your Candy Red? I'm with Metally, what a beautiful setting for a club meet.

I own an '04 RC51 myself and I gotta say this pic is my favorite. The RC51 drawing a crowd like they usually do.

As far as the H-D's go,I live right here in Brewtown not far away at all from the engine assembly plant where they manufacture the engines and transmissions for the bikes.
Around here they're a pretty common sight VietHorse as you see just tons and tons of glittery H-D road iron rolling around town.

Thanks again for the cool pics my friend,I like pics so keep 'em coming.

VietHorse - you're definitely giving me an education about the riding culture in your country. It looks way better than I had imagined. In another thread, I think you mentioned about the lack of dealerships. Is it just that there aren't too many or that some manufacturer's just aren't represented at all? Where do most of these bikes comes from? Are they purchased from within the country or imported?

As far as I know, there are in Vietnam having no 5th and before generation of VFR800.
There about two 2003 VFR non-ABS, both in Red.
Threre are two silver 2005 VFR non-ABS. One was mine before this Candy Red.
Mine is the latest (2007) and the only one with ABS in Vietnam now.
In Hochiminh City (previously named Saigon) we have HOG Saigon. That is not a very big team, there abt hundred HD guys, I supposed.

Most of manufacture dealers in Vietnam are selling small bikes only (<175cc engine)
For >175cc bikes, there only Ducati has official dealer here in Hochiminh City. However, most of Ducati in Vietnam now are imported not by Ducati Vietnam.
Almost of big bikes here are imported by the Motorcyle shops, which are private and free (means they are not under any Motorcycle brand name, they do their own bussiness). They do import of any motorcycle, make warranty/repair themselves.

Second pic down, is that a Honda Rune behind the yellow CanAm? And a DN-01 'mega-scooter' behind that?

I had no idea there were so many modern (and some quite rare) motorcycles in Vietnam. Very cool. Great pics lad, thanks!

Wow...a far cry from the mostly bicycles and a few Honda scooters that were the norm when I was there in '94. Back then, the only larger motorcycles I saw were Russian and East German. In fact I was taken on a day trip on the back of an East German motorcycle up around Nin Binh & environs. Stunning scenery.
