Alright, lets say curiosity killed the kitty on this one!

I know some of you are members here and VFRD. I also know some of you have been chucked off VFRD. Before I ask my question, let me say this thread was not intended to turn VFRD into some whipping post so please stay civil if you answer. The quesion is:

If you were a member of VFRD and got chucked what happened?

Originally, this was going to be my winter thread, but looking through VFRWorld achives I saw people chucked that I was a bit suprised. RVFR? You always seem nice. Hell, even KC-10FE, you may have a forceful point of view but I have only seen you cross a line once IMO and it wasn't "chuck" worthy? I've checked out VFRD as a guest and people seem nice, so what gives?

What are you implying by "chucked?" Like as in throwing/kicking you out of the forum? I am a member over there, but I haven't logged in forever. Some of my "off topic" threads got deleted by the moderator nazi's for not being motorcycle related....(they were some fun video links, one had a bike in it). :(

Yes, By chucked I mean thrown off the site, thread, posting.

And you have said an interesting word "Moderator Nazi" hmmmm interesting.

So VFRD would delete your thread like your assault youtube post?

I am a member on VFRD too. I havn't been kicked off, but just reading their rules and notes the mods leave, they seem to be a little more uptight than the people around here are. This site just seems to be more fun. I like some of the people there, but these guys are a little more light-hearted and a LOT funnier.

Yeah, they deleted like 3 of my threads. None were anything raunchy, just funny/interesting stuff, and several people commented on them that they got a kick out of them, then, POOF, they were gone in like 12 hours.

I know that there are a lot of knowledgable people over there, not knocking them, however, the mods are a tad strict over there. I know, I know, it's a VFR site, so what, we all like to laugh, or check out some weird news.

Yes, if I posted that assault you tube thing, or anything you tube or non-vfr it would be deleted. Oh well, I guess I just get to harass those on VFRworld (and my mtn bike forums). :)

Like Eddie said, it seems much more fun and loose over here. Thanks to the mods for that!

I like it here because I can post what I want (not obsene) without fear of being kicked out. The mods here do a great job of letting a thread run it's course. Here, I've had threads stay up for weeks, and others die in a few days. Either way, they died due to the intrest in the topics, not because some mod didn't think it was "VFR enough".

Well I belong to and actively post on both. I'm also a mod on a third non-vfr motorcycle site so I can see both sides.

VFRd is an overall better site for all things VFR; however, that is NOT a backhanded slap at VFRWorld. I wouldn't be here if I thought it sucked. As ya'll have pointed out, VFRd is certainly more heavy handed. I've had several threads yanked that WERE m/c and/or even VFR related but never received a warning or have been "chucked".

The owner does have some "strange" rules but I will say this, he has reviewed and changed some of the sillier ones (like no ebay threads).

Oh Man talk about, well Hmm sheesh not sure I'm, Mmm interested in going there. I mean I'm back in VFRD land, but don't visit often, as I know I'd just get shit canned again. Now this is my opinion but it's run way to tight and there's definitely a click group there, why? don't have a clue. they're not very thick skinned and if you do not have anything to say in how they (mods of sort) think it should be, it's deleted or.....
Now in my case, I was a newbie of sorts, Ha, as I'd all ready had like over 200 posts plus threads that I started, seems to me right off the bat if you didn't have a 5th gen or newer you are looked down on or worse yet not recognized as being worthy, thats how I felt. Yes there is a 4th gen area, but if you look at the numbers 5th-6th is where it was at.
Okay, now for me it was just rude in how I was handled, started off with a humor thread with photos of fat chicks on bikes and what they wore. I posted up a photo of a gal riding on back wearing a thong and go-go boots, maybe some have seen it, sorta like this one but way worse in the look dept. [IMG] she also had on a leather jacket and helmet which obviously this gal doesn't, thought it was appropriate enough plus funny interesting. Well I get a harse warning from the slammer himself, that we won't tolerate that sort of stuff. I thought okay thats weird cuz the photo before and after mine where IMO way worse, but I also noticed they were seasoned members with newer machines. any way wasn't a week in where I had a nice VFR avatar yea those are so small, but it was one where there was a nude lady on the bike like you could tell, actually it was pretty darn tasteful, but the who ever it was sent me packing with a very short explanation why, as I was all ready warned for this sort of thing, so they locked me out. Go figure. at least it was VFR related Sheesh! so now I don't have much to do with em and when I do, I still see the same ole shit being played out. Don't have any time for sites like that, to bad too, as there's a few dudes there worthy hanging with, Mostly those from the land of Oz. Great to see this site back up and Running, Good job Micheal.

Well Thanks for the answers. Explains why our threads ARE more layed back. I could feel the "tightness" of VFRD when I would read threads. Wow RVFR, that's harsh LOL!

I get some pictures that are too much, but mostly stuff on VFRWorld has been mellow. And when Reg, Vman, or Michael step in they are professional about it!

Keep the answers coming folks if you got'em. And KC-10 FE, don't let me down LOL!

Well, I hate to disappoint you, I never got banned. I just think they suck & suck large so I can't remember the last time I posted.

The only real excitement I had was in a thread about exhausts. Just like my sig here used to say (TBR BLOWS!!!), so did mine on VFRD. I was flamed like a cheap steak for daring to post a negative review about the exhaust one of the moderators had. Instead of affording me the right to have my own opinion, I was attacked by the moderators lap-dogs. I was bombarded by like 8 boneheads berating me for daring to disagree with the mod & his cronies. I was basically told that I had not "earned the right" to post dissadent points of view. If no one else says it, I will, "F VFR Discussion. They can delete my account tomorrow & I would never notice.

As long as I must raise my hand every certain number of years & swear to support & defend the Constitution against all enemies, I don't need anyone's permission to post anything on an internet forum. That goes for VFRWORLD as well. I would sooner not post than obtain some tool's "permission" to disagree with anyone. Much like the played out line from Dave Chappelle, I keep it real. You may not like me, you may think I'm an as$hole but I tell it like it is. It's not my fault if someone doesn't like or can't handle the truth.

Out of sheer morbid curiousity, I would like to know what I posted that you feel I crossed the line. There have been so many.

since exact rules are not plainly stated, and since rules are subjectly enforced by nebulous "Authorities," i think that no one should have to suffer the shame of banishment without being warned first that he has transgressed somehow.

Well thanks for the clarification everyone!

KC: I'd be pretty pissed to if someone told me I had not earned the right to post a complaint. Its a public forum for godsake. Oh and as for TBR, I had to repack my shotgun exhaust and guess what!? There service sucked! The kid that took my order was such a douch bag I was a bit stunned. Before that, I had no issues and I had read your TBR opinions and thought you just got a raw deal. I discovered TBR has fuck the customer days on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays. When people comment on the pipes I tell them that TBR's sound good, but be prepared for crap if you buy their stuff...and I'm not the only one, other people I have met have had similar issues outside of our experiances.

As for the time you got out of line. I can indulge LOL! You and a guy named "Legs" went at it, and in the end it seemed over nothing. The thread was partially deleted. Your powers are best used when it comes to the state of NJ, pinhead government ideas, and TBR! Stay focused KC!

    And Squirrelman:

For my morbid curiosity, are you an attorney or work in a law office?

Or are you the resident philosopher of Barf-A-Lo!?

I check out both - I consider VFRworld home - 700 + posts and VFRD just a place to peruse other curiousitys, 40 + posts. VFRD does seem to have more of the harder core gearheads that know their way around a machine shop - so sometimes I look over there on a tech issue. I agree though that they seem a bit more uptight. Never been "chucked" though.

Oh, that pinhead. I remember that thread. That cretinus yahoo actually had the nerve to endorse & recommend a helmet that actually broke apart in a crash. That & he gave me the impression that he thought he was better than the rest of us because he rides & sells HD's. He sold his VFR so he could ride his HD. F him if he thinks a HD is better than a VFR. He is not missed, at least not by me.

Speaking of NJ, I actually saw a handgun brandished in a fit of roadrage today. I was laughing so hard I almost had to pull off the road. I'm surly & un-stable but I'm not shooting someone just because they wouldn't let me merge. Freaking NJ as$holes.

I actually joined both sites at about the same time. Now this is gonna sound weird, but I just liked the red and black color scheme better originally. I kept coming back and the message traffic here was lower so I could keep up. One thing led to another and now I rarely check VFRD unles, like MD, said there is some technical issue we haven't covered over here. I think both sites have something to offer. I feel like here it is just a bit broader in scope. I could be wrong as I don't get over there much. Oh, and they used to crash a lot over there. I don't know if it's still happening as much...

    Hey guys-

I have read some of the VFRD threads as a guest, and was much more impressed by this forum.

Peeople are friendlier, there is certainly more acceptance of classic VFRs (I LOVE that!), and there is some variety to the postings.

And if VFRD is deleting posts or telling you that you're too new to have an opinion about something is BULL$H!T. Forums are PUBLIC and you can say what you want. You're not spamming about CIALIS or fleshlights or something...

VFRD was the first site I found ( Feb '04 ) after getting a VFR and found it a little over moderated and folks there while nice enough were a bit too " motorcycle only " focused and in being so a little bland.

Wanting a little more found the UK VFR site bikersoracle.com/vfr in April '04 and if a little UK centric found it brilliant for banter with humour for a long time and there were some genuinely great guy's like Oddie who couldn't do enough to help out on technical questions. Unfortunately the UK VFR site disintergrated earlier in the year into wholesale petty slanging matches and became a good example of how sites become moderated. :frown:

Ahhh just right - VFRWorld was become my VFR site of choice as it has a good mix of VFR / motorcycle related content with a human element sadly missing from VFRD all without the vitriol that erupts on the UK site from time to time.

Hate to bust your and others bubbles but this site and VFRd are not public forums. These sites are privately owned and can be used ANY way the owners want.

KC, you never disappoint in being "civil"

Was the hangun pointed at you?

I always love how the states with the hardest gun control laws seem to have an abundence of people using them incorrectly.
