Hello everybody, so a few weeks ago i got myself a new bike - 2000 5th gen VFR800. It gas everything i want in a motorcycle, the speed, comfort, fairings and the amazing sound. But i bought it not without its problems. At first ride battery died - stator to R/R connector burned out. But i hardwired it and everything from that part seems to run fine.

But there are 2 other problems. When i am going to a stop, (maybe i cant hear it riding faster) theres a shorting/arcing sound coming from the front of the bike. And when i press more than ~30% gas, it seems to lag for a little then goes like mad.

Well i googled and googled and found myself that fancy air system solenoid maybe causing that arcing sound. I disconnected it and throttle lag seems to have dissapeared. But that arcing sound is still there. I disaasembled front panel checked wires, nothing seemed to be wrong about them. PCB on the dash had some black contacts, but it works perfectly fine. As a matter of fact everything seems to run fine on a motorcycle, maybe it runs a little rich but its an old bike.

Does anyone have any suggestions or encountered this problem? Also does disconnected cause any damage? Cause i intend to keep it that way.

The "arcing" sound is probably the electric solenoid valve that drives the flapper valve actuator. This is operating intermittently causing a crackling buzz sound when the bike is in gear and you have the clutch pulled in. It won't happen when you are in neutral. The solution is to clean the microswitch at the clutch lever (or replace it, they are cheap). Most importantly, don't worry.
