    Hi, new to the forum.

I've had a 750 many moons ago, but had other bikes since. I'm just about to get a 2001 800.

Its Silver, full UK MOT, 12,500 miles, one owner from new and in visibly great condition. I've had a ride and it feels tight, but I'm no mechanice. The only thing I do know is I have to replace the headers as the collector is rusted out. Obviously that raises concerns with regard to the header bolts. (Had the problem with a bandit with snapped bolts that was a pain to sort).

Other than that, what are the obvious go to's to check?

Delkevic and Black Widow offer stainless headers. I have a Delkevic set on one of mine. If you're concerned about the exhaust studs, spray the nuts with your preferred break-free like Liquid Wrench or similar. Soak them, come back a while later and spray them again. You could repeat this for a few days before you attempt turning them.

Peek in the gas tank for rust. inspect condition of brake fluid in all 3 master cylinder reservoirs. Being that low miles it may also still be on the original voltage regulator. Pull the tail plastic and look on left side of subframe. See what rectifier is in there and inspect plugs, especially the high voltage connector (3 yellow wires) between the stator and rectifier.

The "header bolts" on the VFR800 are studs and if you're careful they're easy to remove and replace.
