I am hoping somebody can confirm my suspicion before I lay out some $.

Recently when I start my VFR750, I get this almost screaming noise coming from the starter/transmission area and the bike doesn't turn over. i try a few times and then something seems to finally grip and the bike starts right up.

After rebuilding a VF500 transmission recently, my best guess is that the idle gear's one-way clutch must be slipping (but i could be wrong)

What do you guys think it is ?

If it is the gear, is this fixable, do I just replace it ?

I am gonna take a stab at this.....it sounds like your bendix isnt engaging the fly wheel and just scrapng it... not sure if there supposed to be shims on your bike.but that might be a reasonmaybe pull the starter and check to see if you have any new sharp points on it ofr the fly wheel.

    Hope this helps
