Hello, I just purchased a 2010 VFR1200F with 3,500 miles. When riding or idling with the clutch lever out (not engaged) the engine makes a thumping vibration/noise similar to what worn lower connecting rod bearings might produce. When the clutch lever is pulled in (engaged) the vibration/noise disappears. This leads me to believe the clutch needle bearing and/or outer basket may be worn (though I wouldn't expect this at such low mileage). I've read this is a common issue but I've yet to find a definitive answer on what to repair. Can anyone who has had similar experience and solved the problem provide advice? I'm waiting for the lifter plate removal tool and will then disassemble the clutch for inspection. Also, there seems to be a lot of play in the chain driving the oil pump. From what I can see with the clutch in place, the plastic chain guide is not damaged so I'm wondering how much tension the chain should have. BTW, the bike appears to genuinely have low mileage and does not seem to have been abused, and I'm using Castrol Power 1 10-40w oil. Thanks!

How did it go? Have you managed to fix it?
