VFR still wont start.(750fv/1997. Only 7000 miles on it.)
Carbs aren't gummed or varnished/they are very clean, in fact they look like new.
Float needles seem to be working freely, plastic floats seem to be okay, so what is wrong?
Can't really see any need to strip carbs further.
Maybe the plugs need cleaning to get a better spark ,and to stop it flooding, and backfiring through the exhaust .
    Any one any ideas?
    Best wishes

I am far from an expert, however, it sounds like new plugs, then plug wires/ignition coil check would be in order since it is flooding and therefore getting fuel. You should do the ole "pull the sparkplug out and turn the starter over with the sparkplug connected to the plug wire against the metal of the engine to ensure it is getting a healthy spark." You could check the voltage coming from the sparkplug as well. I am not sure if the 4th gen has the dreaded regulator/rectifier, (or stator) problem.

Yes the 4th gen has the dreaded RR/ Stator problem.

The 3rds and 4ths were the worst.

Com'on, don't leave us hanging. What fixed it? I'm betting bad plugs.

it would appear to have been the spark plugs.
