Hi there, just poking around the forum looking at gen 5 VFR's (some nice bikes in here). I had a 97 Gen 4 for about 10 years and loved it. Unfortunately it had a rough meeting with some gravel and went out to pasture. Replaced it with a BMW K1200s, absolutely INSANE power, great highway and sweeper bike, but my true love is the twisties, and this big long wheelbase bike just does not compare to the VFR. It's a real looker, but riding it is another story. Went to the BMW dealership today to get new air filters and what do I see, but a blue 2000 Gen 5 with a two brothers high mount exhaust. Not sure what is more rare, the blue or green, either way those two colours are not easy to find. I was already thinking about coming back to the VFR fold, before seeing this bike, so it must be an omen... I have ridden a lot of different bikes, but every time I got back on the VFR after riding a different bike I remembered (or used to) what I loved about it so much.

Anyone have a Gen5 high mount exhaust and GIVI ? Wondering if the GIVI setup will work with a high mount? Had a GIVI setup (wingrack - ugly), on the old one, great bags though, and racks for the Gen 5 are really nice.

    Keep the shiny side up.

Full circle- I started out on a 84 Interceptor and put over 200,000 miles on that puppy. Then a FZR1000, Ducati 900 and now back on a 2002 VFR and I couldnt be any happier and so glad I came back-

Hi, I owned a VFR 800 for 4 years and rode about 50.000km on it - enjoyed every km on it. Then I moved country and suddenly had access to a great motorbike market. I wanted to buy a blackbird but got a K1200S instead (used). I love the bike for many reasons but there are issues that spoil the fun a bit. Vibrations are numbing my hands after a few km, technical issues that should not happen on a BMW etc. I miss my VFR !! However I need to say that 60HP on top on what the VFR offers are addictive. The VFR and the K1200S are similar bikes in many ways especially when touring. I guess the VFR is more reliable and does everything in style. And it looks great too (especially with the Leo Vince carbon pots). But I would struggle to adjust back to the HP. So I will live with the K1200S and will always mourn for the VFR...
