While roaming the site checking out some of the bikes I came accross a couple, ozbiffo and SilverVFR, that had a small metal hoop behind the passenger seat. My younger daughter wants to go for a ride but is afraid of sliding off the back. Is that hoop there to provide the passenger with a sense of security or is it part of a luggage system? Any info would appreciated.

    Corbin Gunfighter w/backrest

I have a Corbin Gunfighter w/backrest that I use when I ride w/my 11 year old son. It gives him great comfort and has been well worth the $.

You can also get seat heated nowadays. (Since you're in the frozen North).
