The question came from a different thread but thought it's probably worth making and answering in its own thread. Hopefully there are others here that can fill in the history a more but from my side have seen the terms used for some time by some Aussies & Americans on vfrdiscussion, not sure who coined originally coined the names Testarossa or Klingon but have heard AB-oz from vfrdiscussion believe's he started the word "Origami" for the Gen 6 due it looking a bit like a 5th Gen made of sharply folded paper when the first photo's appeared in mid '01. My understanding of the different VFR Gen name meanings: Gen 4 Testarossa - The black slats in the side ducts look similar to the sides of a Ferrari Testarossa. Gen 5 Klingon - Because it looks kinda like the Star Trek Klingon Bird of Prey ( mind at first thought because the front looked a bit like a Klingons head ) Gen 6 Origami - Due to its sharp lines looking like clean folded paper from the Japanese art of Origami.
Thanks for the explanation John. I get the Testarossa for the 4th gen's gills (kinda like the look of the new Kawasaki Concours...or the Z something 1400 I think you guys call it), and I guess I see a little bit of the klingon head, however, now that I think of it, it kinda looks like the alien's head from the movies Predator. How about predator? Just joking. The Origami I am still working on. ha!
