i am new to the forum and have a few questions.... maybe you seasoned vfr guys can help...
38 years old, riding on and off last 18 years give or take. mostly off for the last 10 but caught the motorcycle bug real bad 2 years ago and went out and bought a ducati monster 750. i am not a real speed freak racer. i liked the look of it, it was italian, i am of italian descent, the rest is history... i love it up to 60 mph. above that speed it is kinda twitchy and doesnt really feel planted securely. i also really want some more wind protection than a teeny weeny bikini fairing. i use it mostly for commuting and longish rides on and around long island, ny.
i think that i decided i need a sport tourer instead. in my travels and research i came across the vfr and i think i'm in love.

the question is will this love last or is it some one night stand infatuation?? do I buy an 06 in black like i am planning? what are the thoughts on the board? should i wait til march and hope to still get an 06 or jump on one now for around 8750.00 out the door?

VFR people tend to really like them. I would say they are not really the best at any one thing but do just about everything well, better than most riders can handle anyway. Reasonably comfortable, good power, handling, reliability etc. Mind you most of us on this forum are pretty biased. The other good thing about the VFR is that if there is something you don't like there is usually an aftermarket solution. I like to think of the viffer as the smart persons bike but like I say I am a bit biased.

    thanks "grinder"

your response sounds like the kind of bike that i am looking for - good highway tourer-cruiser, good sport bike. i am looking for something that will be balanced i guess. not any extreme form of one or the other side of the spectrum.

    thanks again

A VFR is certainly balanced in its capabilities. Based on your need description I'd say you found the perfect bike!! But of course I'm biased.

Just bought my VFR 2 months ago but my brother-inlaw has had his since 2001. He is a stat and detail freak(also a pilot) and loves speed. He told me all the info I needed to make the choice and he was right. My Vfr is comfortable, crazy in the turns, looks great, especially leaving the full crotch-rockets behind. Try one out, you won't be sorry.

I have 1986 VFR700F2 in Pearl White 23,000 miles, still runs great. I don't ride it as much since I Bought the new 2006 VFR800 in Pearl White,4500 miles and counting. This bike does everything that I want it to. I can run with my buds on full race bikes and I can tool with my cruiser buddies. OOHHH THE POWER.
