What year is your bike? Unless I am mistaken the "F" classification was given to all the 750 models produced from 86-97.

Any idea what year bike the Ebay pump is off?

    thanks for reply,

yes my bike is a 1991 model FM,

and the one i have found on ebay is a new one, ( it is from china or hong kong and is reasonably priced) the auction says it is from years 1990 - 1997 which fit my year, its just that bit about the F, but you are probally right I cant find any difference on the net,

thanks for your help so far Steve

    Try this....

Most common reason for overheated pump is something causing slow fuel flow from the fuel tank TO the pump, so try disconnecting the input line to pump and check for full flow without trickles or dribbles or erratic flow. Could be a clog in the petrol tank output or petcock, plugged fuel filter.

The pump design stayed the same from early VFs up until the advent of FI, so no problem ftting a pump from a different year.

Thanks for quick reply, have just had reply from ebay member from hong komg, and they said sorry that their pump listed would probally not fit my 1991,
but I am inclined to go with your thoughts that their pump should fit my bike, ( especially as it is around £40 brand new)
    how different can it be

    Steve

I'd be more inclined to source a breakers yard pump than trust anything from China.

Same exact pump was used on Honda cruisers, Kawi sportbikes and cruisers.
