So let me begin by saying hello to you all. So I guess my first post will be a question I don't have a vfr yet, but hope to get one someday. I've read it's an awesome motorcycle. What I do have is a 1974 cb750. I picked up a 94 - 97 vfr front end for cheap. Problem is It didn't come with the wheel or brake disk, not a problem. I will using the cb750 hub on it. So my question is can some give me the measurement of distance between the outer surfaces of the brake disk ? With this measurement I can figure out how much offset I need on the disk I will be using. Also the measurement of the hub surface where the disk sit may help The hub measure may be tricky unless some one has a bare wheel sitting around. Thank you guys for looking and hopefully answering
Welcome !! :welcome: That project seems pretty much nonsense ! I had an old '73 CB750 on the road for a couple years, and imo, it's nowhere near as safe to ride as newer bikes with improved wheels, tires, brakes, suspension and a whole lot lighter. Grafting some cool VFR bits onto the CB's creaky crawly chassis won't make it any safer and will make it less valuable as a relic. :shame: Measurement of the different fork lengths, etc. and getting good numbers within a workable range is job #1 or the fancied-up old slapper may be too hard to handle. A decent old, tired CB750 usually sells for about $1000, so sell yours, save up an additional $1000 and step up to a VFR750 from CL or ebay. Makes more sense technically and financially imo.
Well I knew someone would say something like that. There's always someone It's not a stock chassis and no disrespect man but you probably never got to know the bike long enough. It's not the chassis that was a weak link but chassis components. That being said I like old bikes. I got the frond cheap and I know with a little more money and time it'll work. Ps. Don't be so negative man I asked for a little help not someone to bring down my project
